About Addiction...
I've been addicted to Ecstacy for 2 years, was probably taking it 4 times a week, first time I tried it, I took it one month straight, I've also been addicted to coke for a few months, I also had a gambling problem which I lost 15,000 in 2 months. I've been addicted to other drugs as well.
These stims is not a drug for me (it's like taking a stacker 2 but much better) and no way can I get addicted on these, and if I do, I can overcome the problem like I did with the other drugs. I'm just experimenting which is the right dose for me, I just move things along. If I wanted to get high, I wouldn't take these meds.
So far I really like Adderall XR, it seems more mild than ritalin, probably cause of the low dose I"m on now, but this sure lasts much much longer and much smoother.
I woke up this morning without any problems, normally I'm suicidal in the mornings trying to wake up.
Good Morning

T sounds like you have had a rollercoster ride, but you have to remember that whether you're rollin, blasting through an eight-ball or taking more of your meds than you are perscribed, you are abusing drugs.
The scrips your doctor give you are to help with a problem (ADHD), not as legal substitute for your addictions.
A couple questions, are you crushing your meds and is your docter a general practitioner or a psychiatrist.
I started off with Ritalin 10mg 4 times a day, then I upped my dosage to 20mg 3 times a day, and then I increased on my own to 20mg 7-8 times a day. The reason why I take so much is that it only lasts about an hour to an hour and a half. I have no side effects, NOT EVEN ONE, no rebound, actually if it was my choice, I would stick to this dosage.
I called my doctor today and told her about it and she said it's too much and we are going to switch to another med. She mentioned Concerta, if I get 54mg once a day, I'm assuming since I've been taking an average of 150mg of Ritalin a day, I doubt the Concerta would be helpful.
Another option is Adderall, I can ask for 20mg 3 times a day, I heard lots of good stuff about Adderall, I don't worry about side effects, cause I don't get any.
Anyone have any suggestions what I should try next?
Thanks

Hi I'm not sure how old you are, but when my son who is now almost 11 was on adderall, he became so violent. He would get in fist fights with older kids, mostly teens, and win. It was very scary, lets just say he didn't last long on it. He's been on concerta 54 mg. for sometime and does OK, good luck to you.Doctor prescribed me Adderall XR 20mg once a day.

I do have one thing to say: you don't know if you get any side effects on meds you have not yet tried! Each med works differently for each person, so I recommend that you consult your dr. about which to try next. Good luck and let us know how things work out!con chair tah
Does that make sense, it does to me but might not to everyone.
concerta= "cun-sir-tah"
and T- I do believe that you need to get off stims; find it aggravating that your dr. hasn't realized this. Taking more than prescribed is not what the med is for. I take both adderall and xr and they work the best of meds I have tried. Good luck finding what works for you and take care.
I'm going to the doctor today and hopefully will be prescribed adderall or adderall XR. I've been on concerta for a month and don't like it all. Made me tired, zoned out and less productive than before.I take Concerta and I also take 54mg once a day. It works perfect for me. My brother is taking Adderall and isn't doing so well with it. I have taken Adderall also and I feel like the one pill a day with Concerta has worked the best.I took one 20mg XR at 1PM, didn't help much, then I took another one around 3:30, I'm feeling it now, so far so good, I hope it lasts.
Next appointment is in 2 weeks, I'll take this 2 times a day and see what happens, anyone taking 2 XRs a day?any tips on how to take it throughout the day? I'm guessing I'll take one in the morning, and one around lunch.
No side effects. Ok back to work

It sounds like you keep taking more than the doctor prescribes both with the ritalin and the adderal. You really should stick to what the doctor tells you and check with him before taking more. You may be building up a tolerance by taking so much and will need to take more and more to achieve the desired effect. You also may be getting addicted to the amphediamine by taking too much. It is just a word of warning. I am no expert by any means.
