I've been kicking around the idea of starting a social club for kids with ADHD in my town. You all know the story.....few if any friends and B-day invites? What are those?
I know about CHADD and all, but the closest chapter isn't very close, and I would want something that focused more on the kiddos. I've found a few things here and there, and they charge to participate and it usually around 0 for a few weeks
Any ideas? I'm also nervous about other people not wanting others to know about their kids diagnosis. I dunno...something I've thought about for a while. Just a casual arrangement that meets monthly and gives a resource for friendship for our special kids.
I think it's a wonderful idea. Do you have a Parents Advisory Council with school. Usually parents that work with the SPED deparmtent. They may be able to help you get the word out.................Another possibility would be to start a parent's group and y'all take turns to supervise the kid part of it
I am new to this whole ADHA, and I think that it would be a great idea to have play dates for kids. I know from experence with my 5 year old that he is not always included in activities outside of schools. Several parents have asked that he not be allowed to play with their kids. We try not to let him feel bad but I can't imaging that he does not notice. Our Doctor has even sugguested he get a playmate that he can buddy up with at school. But it is hard to control the school enviroment when you are not there.I thought about starting one here, but having ADHD I am socially inept. I can't even talk to myself in the mirror without blushing. I think that is a great idea especially for the parents and the kids.LOL! Too Funny! I am pretty much the same way, but now I'm on Concerta so its not so bad. Don't you just love genetics?!
