I take Adderall XR in the morning. Is it bad to have a glass of wine in the evenings before bedtime? It relaxes me after a long day.
Yes, it is not recommended. I disagree, I think one glass of wine in the evenings should be perfectly safe -- especially if you drink it at least 12 hours after your dose. I'm on Adderall XR and have a couple of beers occasionally at night and haven't noticed any adverse effects, other than those that would normally result from consumption of alcohol. You should check with your doctor though.
I've never heard anyone recommend alcohol, but I self-medicate my 'elf from time to time...
Guess what? My doctor recommended I enjoy a glass of red wine a couple times a week- he said it has some health benefits (can't remember what at the moment) and that it is a good way to relax, provided it's just 1 glass and I'm not going to be driving. I love that man- he said that as long as I wasn't having a problem or feeling oddly after an occasional drink while I'm on meds (adderall xr and wellbutrin) that it's ok.
However, my DH recently started taking Buspar- he had 1 beer last week and said he felt like he'd had 4! I guess that's what you have to watch out for.
Adderall lowers some people's tolerance for alcohol, but another thing to remember is that Adderall suppresses the appetite -- so by the time you drink you might've gone a while without eating, or without eating enough. Drink on an empty stomach and it'll hit you hard. Just make sure you don't drink on an empty stomach and you should be fine. equazcion39422.7042939815[QUOTE=jaderock54]Guess what? Adderall and Alcohol do nothing other then make you a wide awake drunk. I have done it before. Not sure why the government has so many warnings about it. People (especially college students) have been using speed for years and drinking on top of them.
I am not saying it's a good thing, but I see no harm in it either. The main concern is that Adderall is an addictive drug, and so is alcohol, so those who have addictions issues need to be watched closely.
I am currently on Adderall and Wellbutrin. However, I was just reading about some major drug interactions between these two drugs on www.drugs.com in the drug interactions tab.
How are you doing on your Adderall and Wellbutrin and do you take the Wellbutrin in the AM or PM?
THanks.
bharrod,
I posted to your other thread about the interactions earlier, but as for the effectiveness it's great. I take wellbutrin xl 300mg in the am- I've never had any side effects from it, so it doesn't really matter what time of day I take it, although I know the doc said something about taking it at night it it makes me tired. The adderall I don't take daily, just when I have days when I need to really focus, but since I went up to 300mg from 150 mg of the wellbutrin recently I found that I need the adderall even less frequently.
I do have to say that the wellbutrin's been the "miracle drug" for me. I had no idea how f---- up I was until I wasn't anymore.
