The sticky marks that the patch leaves on are horrible!  I found that Goo Gone works really well also.  I spray it directly on the sticky spot and use a washcloth & gently wipe until it's gone.  I usually do it before bath, that way the skin gets cleaned after.  It has a nice citrus smell too.

I did go online to check out the ingredients for Goo Gone and it's non-toxic and found that "skin contact w/ordinary individuals is not considered hazardous".  It does work really well.I would definetely find something else. WD40 is toxic and abrobed rapidly through the skin.

Hi all - I'm usually a lurker here but am so gratefull for all the advice and support.  I can usually find the answer to a question on here.  Now I have one I want to share.  Something that gets off the terrible black adhesive marks left behind.  WD40.

I've been trying the olive oil and vaseline, but I really have to rub hard and it hurts my son's skin.  WD40 works great.    I spray it liberally on a cotton ball and smear around the mark.  I let it set a minute, and then come behind with a washcloth that I also spray the WD40 onto to moisten it and it comes right off - no scrubbing.  I do this right before he gets in the tub, but you would want to wash off the WD40 afterwards.  You could probably spray it directly onto the skin instead of using a cotton ball - I just like to do the spraying as far away from his eyes as possible as he is still smallish.   I have always tried to remove the patch mark from the day before as the skin is red that evening.  I don't think it would hurt that evening though.  He had a scratch from the dog, and it didn't hurt on that.

Hope that works for ya.

I asked my husband, who has a Ph.D. in chemistry, and he said, "Nope, I wouldn't do that.  I wouldn't expose my kids to that stuff.  Even if it is only oils, they will contain traces of potential carcinogens."

Having said that, I think that there is something that hospitals use on adhesives, but I can't remember the name.  Our psych told us about it.

Hmmm - I read on the WD40 to just wash with soap and water for skin contact.  I didn't say NOT to have contact with skin or anything.  I will read it closer.

Thanks.  I'll look into the Goo Be Gone.  My husband told me that DOES say to avoid contact with the skin.  But I will look at that too.

WD40 is 50% Stoddard Solvent, which is in effect Kerosene.

Hi,

My daughter has been on Daytrana patch since September and all is going very well so far.   To remove the adhesive I usually put some baby oil on a cotton square and wipe the areas after her bath.  Seems to do the trick.
