ADD meds and being tired
help!!
My 12 yr old daughter has tried many of the ADD meds. They all make her VERY tired. She weighs 90 lbs. All have been tried at the very lowest dose possible. She literally could sleep all day and is very "out of it".
Any suggestions?
How long did you give each med? This happens often with my daughter (13), but if we give it a couple of weeks it does get better.
She is now on Strattera and we are not seeing that tiredness.
Strattera takes 6 weeks to kick in and at least 4 weeks to get most of the side effects to stop.I also found that splitting the dose 40mg in the morning and 40mg at dinner helped.
How long was your daughter on it?
We saw results on Strattera after 2 weeks, but as metis says it takes 4-6 for optimum results. We didnt have the stomach issues, but if she took it at night that may help that.
Strattera sounds like the perfect fit for her but the upset stomach would not go away.
We do try longer than 2 weeks with each med but it does not improve. She is ADD and does not have the hyperness.
Could it be that it is slowing her down too much? It just does not make sense and driving her crazy!
