yeah, i'm not sur how she would do off meds, she is also inatentive, but can get hyper when over stimulated and not easy to settle down, i just find it takes her so long to fall alseep, and she needs her sleep, she is getting over an hour less and is cranky the next day when she gets home from school, so i tough maybe breaks on weekends and hollidays would give her a chance to catch up on sleep.
Today saturday i din't give her her meds, i can defenatly see a difference in her behavior, she has that mischivious look, like she is going to do something, or is purposly being anoying not listening, it's like a squint and a smerk, i forgot about that look, she has not done that since going on meds a month ago.
I don;t think being off of her meds during the familly gatherings is a good idea, i don't know, i might just do it in the summer insted, we'll see!
if its only about sleep, how about giving it to her earlier in the morning, or adding something for sleep like melatonin
if its only about sleep, how about giving it to her earlier in the morning, or adding something for sleep like melatonin
yeah it's pretty mutch all about sleep, would giving it to her an hour earlyer make a difference? and what is melatonin, is it another prescribed drug?
well you said she s losing about an hour sleep, so if you give it to ehr an hour earlier in the a.m. it should wear off an hour earlier in the p.m. I used to wake my daughter up an hour early have her take her pill and go back to sleep when she took long acting stimulants.
Melatonin is not a prescribed med. Google it and you can find tons of information. Or do a search here, lots of information, a lot of people use it.
My 13 year old was on concerta. He has inattentive ADD. It worked wonders in school He was able to focus and did well with grades. But he was up so late at night! It got so bad.......we gave him a break on weekends. But he had anger/violent episodes. Right now, he is on Focalin 10mg and doing fine for the most part. I think that a lot of his issues are his personality type and hormones. These, too, are to be considered.

do you give breaks from concerta? on holidays, or during summer, has it cause any problems?
Some people do and other don't. We don't give our daughter medication breaks.
