It would be stressful with the two little ones.  We've probably all considered it, at least briefly .  I'm not cut out for it, and my son does better with a little competition and positive peer pressure , but there are definitely situations that I've read about here that would make me pull him out of school.
thanks.. i am going to contact the school and see if there are any programs, tutors resorce teachers etc,.,. there first.. that can help him get caught up.. I really do NOT think i am cut out for it.. but want to see him up to his grade level and i know he is so distracted at school.. but then again two small siblings he is gonna be distracted here as wellI am looking for some people in the LA area who homeschool. If anyone is out there let me know pm me.i am just wondering, for those of you who home school, what is your background?  have you been and educator, or have studied in any aspect of education or therapy?  i don't think that my dd and my relationship could sustain it, i just don't know if i have what it takes (disapline wise and background).

I admire all of you that homeschool your children. I stressed out over making little a's in kindergarten with my little ones. I just don't have the patience. But, if you can do it, go for it!!!

My son has a wonderful teacher and has learned so much in this year. I think the routine and structure has been a great thing for him.

I thought long and hard about homeschooling but the relationship would never hold up. My son has respect issues with me and it would never work. Besides I wanted him to have a normal as can be social life. He likes school pretty much so far and has a fabulous teacher this year who is both strict and supportive.a friend of my home schools one of her kids.  she actually works with a friend and she is the one who does the instruction.  also you can google homeschooling and find local groups that can organize social events and help with curriculum.  also have you looked into private schools or charter schools, or even open enrollment into a different school or school district?  we considered all of these options but i know i do not have what it takes to take on this task of home schooling.  I started homeschooling my son last year and we're doing it again this year.

It really does seem to be the best thing for him, as he can learn a lot more easily doing laps around the kitchen table than he can sitting at a desk. Plus we do a lot with other families -- co-op classes, field trips, science fairs etc. As a group, the homeschoolers we've linked up with are a very tolerant bunch, and DS's activity level, distractibility, etc. aren't really an issue for anyone, which is so great for his self-esteem.

I wondered, too, if our two personalities and our relationship could really take this -- and we do have our share of those days if you know what I mean -- but overall it has been good for us.

Certainly no harder than fighting with the public school, and he's learning AT LEAST as much, probably lots more.

My area has public charter schools that are for homeschooling. They provide the curriculum, do the STAR testing, monitor, etc. They also provide extra-curriular classes ($), and socializing opportunities.

Girl.......I don't have the patience to homeschool..........I wouldn't be consistent......

However, I do believe that ADHD ideally should be homeschooled.  The current schooling system requires a lot of sitting in a chair and listening to lecture while taking notes......this does not fit the ADHD learning style and can bore them to death.

If there is ANY WAY that you can home school your ADHD child, I highly recommend it!
