2nd day on Strattera | ADHD Information

Share

well yesterday i started strattera 25MG, i got diagnosed yesterday, i belive i shoulda gone a lot sooner but anyways.. he told me to take them 2 a day.. but i was getting very tired and my heart was pouding pretty fast and hard to sleep, and my chest sorta hurt a bit when i took the medicine for about an hour. so i called him today and he told me to take cut down and just take one a day. does anyone else have bad chest pain or high heart rate where it can be bothering and hard to sleep b/c of it. and also i woke up early and then couldnt fall back a sleep. probably b.c of my heartrate. does this stuff go away in time? should i just let it go for a few weeks after taking one a day . or will this always happen? it is only my 2nd day.. but i just figured id ask.

THANKS.

thanks for the reply, im feeling alright .. today is day 4.. im on one pill a day now which is alot less tiredness then 2 a day, i still feel tired but not as bad as the 1st and 2nd day, my chest only hurt once.. but i havent noticed it anymore... how olds your sonn? and when do u start to notice any sort of change, the only change ive notced really is my pupils are huge! and when do u think is the best time to take the medicine.. i take it at 6pm and it basicly seems worn off by morning @ work and i seem all normal again .. with anxiety, not relaxed, cant sit still, seem like i gotta always rush to get things done...  but i dont really want to take the pill in the am bc im afriad ill be to tired and fall asleep in my chair or something at work, it sorta makes me a lil drowsy, when should i expect to be more less tired/drowsy? and also when does the heart rate stop racing and go back to normal..

i also wake up in middle of night a few times,

will this medicine help with my anxiety  or any depression or anything?

like i get nervous a lot.. and it makes me anxious and hands get cold and heart races fast, doctor said its all apart of adhd.. but will this medicine after awhile actually help with that and make me more of a relaxed person and not be so nervous.
and one more thing.. does the medicine only work when i take it and then it wears off or does it stay within me and works always after ive been taking it for over months of time and my bodys used to it and it just changes me and makes me relaxxed person more or only when on the pill.
please fill me in on any info that you know, all is appreciated,
i havent heard from any young adults that actually use it and like it, mostly just younger people it seems, know of any teens my age that it helped them.

THANKS

i am 18/m (140lb) currently on 25mg 1 a day, later in few wks.. 40mg i belive

I'm glad your feeling better.  My son is 9, he started on 25mg & we found 60mg works great.

I believe, if you search the entire board, that there is a thread regarding adults & how they are doing with Strattera.

Strattera takes about a month to work. Usually people will experience side effects during that time period but after the initial breaking in period the side effects disappear. Of course sometimes the side effects are serious and cause concern or don't disappear so it really depends on you. If it's not bad you might want to wait it out if it is a major problem then try another med.

Bshea, how are you feeling now?

Strattera can take up to 6 weeks before you see the full effect.  It took my son 2 days before the stomach cramps & tiredness went away, but he never complained about his chest.  That would concern me.

On a happier note, he is doing really well on Strattera, so good luck to you.

yeah i know but isnt there anything u can respond to out of everything i said?

thx.

i also wake up in middle of night a few times, now my son sleeps through the night, he never did before

will this medicine help with my anxiety  or any depression or anything?can't help you their either, his depression was mild & was helped by his therapist

and one more thing.. does the medicine only work when i take it and then it wears off or does it stay within me and works always after ive been taking it for over months of time and my bodys used to it and it just changes me and makes me relaxxed person more or only when on the pill.If you would like I can ask my son, but this is not a stim so it doesn't have a rebound or crash, but if you do not take it, you will notice.

i am 18/m (140lb) currently on 25mg 1 a day, later in few wks.. 40mg i belive I cetainly would not up the dose if your heart does not calm down.  Did your GP prescibe this for you or a psyciatrist?  I really do not like the sound of your heart, but I will take to my son when he comes home after playing soccer.  If you have any questions for him, let me know, he would be happy to answer them for you.
