I checked the websites but could not find any groups in my area or anywhere close (here in LA 10 miles takes 1 hour to drive) I appreciate the help though

NoTellin thanks for your efforts but these are homeschool SUPPORT GROUPS I am looking for an actual group that homeschools together as my so would not work with me. But I could work with others. I would even be willing to pay for this service beyond the material. Are you looking for a social kind of group? Like people for your son to be friends with and go on field trips and such? Your local school district might have some resources for you. There is a home school liaison employed (eh, I actually don't know if she was paid or not... but she met with me for three hours so I'd guess she was) by the school district in the suburb we used to live in. (I was considering homeschooling when my son was younger and we still keep that option open in case public school doesn't work out for him). Is your son getting any services right now from the school district; counseling, behavioral therapy, speech, OT, etc.? They might be a good starting place too. A *lot* of special needs kids are home schooled. I don't know if you have this in CA; but in WA we have something called Washington Virtual Academy; which is funded and overseen by the school district. Kids are loaned a laptop for the school year as well as all of their books and materials. Parents are given a curriculum to follow and join a support group; there are field trips and social events scheduled pretty frequently.

If we were to homeschool; we would *need* something like that; and I'd need to work out some kind of lesson trading with another parent because about 70 percent of the time my son just refuses to sit down and do his work if he's bored.
Yes, there is a CA Virtual Academy. http://www.caliva.org/who-chooses/right.html. I have heard good things. But the parent is the teacher. Spamula I think what you are describing is a charter school. In some charter schools the parents pretty much run it and do a lot of volunteering, but I think they also get public monies and have teachers. So you might be a teaching assistant or something like that.Right, but if anyone knows the answer to your question, these people do. I suggest that you call them.
