have her evaluated! my dd did a lot of what you are discribing in your dd is doing, it can;'t hurt!

I had to tell dd at lease 10 times in the morning to put her socks on, and when it came time to put her shoes on to go to school, she still din't have her socks on, but the real issues for her was in school, she was not able to focus, and dwadled, was not able to do her work, so now she is behind, at lease i cought it soon anough and after the holidays it's a catch up game, she is now on concerta and the teacher is very pleased with her in school! she is able to focus and do her work, thank goodness!

My 6 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD in November, but I have suspected for years that my 8 year old daughter may have it too.  I have to tell her about 30 times to do something before she starts doing it, and she usually never finishes anything.  It takes her forever to get dressed in the mornings, and no matter how many times I've told her to "leave the cat alone", I'm constantly catching her with the cat.  She hasn't had any real issues in school, other than in Kindergarten her teacher pointed out that she "piddles" a lot instead of getting right to work.  Recently she has had minor issues in school, but LOTS of issues at home.  She's constantly annoying her little brother and older sister and she never lets up.  And she is constantly starting fights with them and talking back to me.  She can't seem to stay on task with anything unless you remind her every 5 minutes what she is supposed to be doing.

Should I have her evaluated too?  I'm worried that the doc might think that I'm just trying to drug up my children if I ask her to test my daughter so soon after she diagnosed my son.  I've heard from others that ADHD can run in the family, so I think she may very well have this too.  Any advice?

I had the same concerns that I was over reacting when I sought help for the older daughter about a year after my youngest was treated. The doc was reassuring that since this is primarily genetic, it is well worth evaluating anyone suspected of having ADHD. My oldest is inattentive and was doing well in school until the last trimester each year. The teachers always said that if only she were more organized, she would really excell. Then in the 6th grade she started to loose her work and have school problems in the middle of the year. I had her evaluated and with treatment, she is in honors math and doing well.

Tell the doc of your suspissions and your reservations and that you think an evaluation would help settle your mind one way or the other.

My DD has ADHD /Innattentive, and it seems girls are often overlooked when they are inattentive. I would have it checked out, you never know. I would have her evaluated as well. It couldn't hurt to know what you are dealing with. A good diagnosis will let you know how to react.
