How should adderall make you feel? | ADHD Information

I had just the opposite!  I began taking 15 mg of Adderall XR a week ago and it really calmed me down.  I'm more focused, have clear thoughts and seem to get alot more accomplished during the day.  I've noticed though, about 3:30 in the afternoon, I seem to wind down, and start yawning and just seem sleepy.  I wonder if I need to change my dosage?  Has anyone else had this problem? Recently, I have began to take 20 mg of adderall(fast acting) to start the morning every day.

The first time I took the 20mg(around 11 a.m.), I remember getting energetic, happy, outgoing and really social(usually shy around strangers and have little energy to talk to others), and organized.simple tasks(for the average person --hard for me) became so much easier. I was more productive in 3 hours on adderall than I was the whole week before.

Some negatives I experienced:

Jittery, sweaty, excessive and fast talking. Also, when I went to work out later on in the evening, I felt really talkative and energetic after and ended up going to bed at 10 in the morning.

Is this a typical experience with someone who supposedly has add? I heard that those with adhd become much more calm on the adderall; However, I was the complete opposite. Is this possibly because I don't have the hyperactive version of add?

I got roughly the same effect that you did when I went from 10mg pills to 30mg. There will be some adjustment period for your body. That part should level out.

I went from 30 mg a day to 90mg and was able to accomplish so many things. It took me a while to realize that it was very easy to push myself too much and over do it.

I call it the "seduction of accomplishment." Finally acheiving things made me feel good. So like with anything enjoyable we tend to over do it. All the effort I had been putting forth to compensate was now driving me too much, so i had to learn to not push myself so hard.

There is also the possibility that Adderal is not the right medication for you, but 20mg a day is typically not too much for ADHD brains to adjust to.

Keep an eye on your Caffiene intake also.

As far as being calm. I do not have a hyperactive body, but my brain is hyperactive (racing thoughts). With my meds my brain and body work together now so outwardly I probably look more hyper.

I'm just a differernt flavor of crazy when Im medicated. LOL

I have heard from both my psychiatrist and my pharmacist that the meds may do that to you at first. I am on Strattera, which is a non-stimulant, but it did make me very, very anxious up until a few days ago (I've only been on it for 2 weeks) They said around week 3 is the magic week for most people for the jittery feelings to subside.
