FOCALIN AND UPSET STOMACH | ADHD Information

Anyone have any upset stomachs with their children on Focalin XR?  My son has been on it for a few weeks, and keeps having an stomach ache.  I know the benefits are huge with him but don't think he should have this everyday with stomach aches.  It is breaking my heart

Stomach problems can be a side effect of these meds. They can be made worse when the meds are causing lack of appetite and an empty stomach. If giving the meds with food and making sure he eats is not of any help, then maybe the doc has some suggestions.

I don't think a bowl of cereal is enough, and am just trying to see how much he should eat in the morning before I give him his medicine.  His appetite has gone down but is still strong........there are other meds out there to keep him going well in progress yes? 

My son had BAD nightime stomachaches with the Focalin XR, after it was out of his system. He complained EVERY nite his stomach hurt.My son had  upset stomach with focalin, turned out it was heartburn.  We gave him a tums when it got really bad, and he didn't have any further problems.  Not sure why the focalin did that, the vyvanse he's on now does not.

My son loses his lunch apetite altogether, and if I don't make sure he has a snack when he gets off the bus, he will get both a headache and a stomach ache before supper. I don't think it's the medicine but the empty stomach that's causing his aches. When he first started on meds, he would get a stomach ache in the morning, but that went away after several days.

It is mainly in the morning, but also during other parts of the day.  I am giving it until today and then if he tells me he had a stomach ache then I will not give it to him
