ADHD Diagnosis

Hi everyone,

I am new on here and the reason is because my 17 year old daughter has been diagnosed with ADHD.  She has been put on strattera 40mg and i just wondered if anyone else was on this type of medication.  There do seem to be a few subtle changes in her behaviour she does seem a bit quieter.  I have been through hell with her over the last 4 years where she was excluded from school 7 times.  Caught shoplifting got pregnant got an apprentice recently for our local council and then lost it within 2 months.  She has only been on the strattera for just over a week but i feel it has all come a little too late.  The school was rubbish she went too they did nothing for her I have had to get this diagnosis myself and it has taken around three years if the school had helped i am sure i could have gotten it sorted out sooner.  I feel let down by the system, is there light at the end of the tunnel?

Is the strattera helping her? I wonder if there might be a better med for her IMPULSIVE behavior.

I am not a doctor, but my son is impulsive and straterra did nothing but make him depressed. He is on concerta and guanfacine and doing well.

If you are happy with the results from straterra, do keep an eye out for depression, it is one of the side effects.

Best wishes!
