Tenex/Guanfacine for Tic Management | ADHD Information

I cannot comment on tics, but for a dosage reference-my youngest is on 2mg am and pm. This seems high compared to many on this board but is in line with the effective dose of 2-4mg/day for Shire's long lasting form for ADHD.horsemom we were using .5 am and .5 pm of Guanfacine for a while, it helped some, but didnt help quite enough. We ended up going off stims, but it wasnt just the tics that made that decision for us, she was a mess on the Concerta. It did take a while after starting the Guanfacine for things to settle the bit that they did.

My daughter is currently on Concerta and we are adding Tenex/Guanfacine to help manage tics.   For those that have done this,  how long did it take for you to notice a difference?    We are starting with .5 mg in the evenings.  If after a week we don't notice an improvement, we are supposed to add an additional .5 mg in the AM.   We are a few days into first week and haven't noticed any changes other than she is a little less hyper at bed time - which in itself is a good thing.

BTW - I posted a month or so ago about problems we were having after school with my daughter's moods - irratibility and etc - and possible rebound issues.  When we upped her Concerta, things have been much better.  We have had very few rebound type issues.   Also, the tics aren't new with the increase of Concerta.  She's had them off and on since we started stimulates 1.5 years ago.
