Tenex/Amantidine anyone?Hi pjcofer127, Amantidine is sometimes used to counter the weight gain and other adverse side effects sometimes seen with some meds like geodon, risperdal, etc. as well as useful to treat bipolar mania. http://www.psycheducation.org/hormones/Insulin/weightgain.ht m I think a lot of meds are found to be useful across multiple diagnosis where similar symptoms occur due to brain chemistry variations. My sister has Parkinson Disease and Cebral Palsy and is on this medication.... I just always thought it was for fighting infection......and for the spams of her body......
My 7 year old son has been taking Provigil/Geodon/Clonindine for the past year and a half, and that combo has finally worn out it's usefullness with him, so today the doctor has prescribed a combo of Amantidine/Geodon/Tenex. I've read several entries in the posts about Tenex, but have seen nothing on Amantidine. I've researched both on the web, and find some things, but mostly what they were manufactured for, not necessarilly what their practical uses might be. Any feedback, experiences would be helpful to me. Thanks bunches, it feels good to be back "on" after my hiatus! PJ Has anyone tried only using tenex for ADHD. My doc. is suggestingdropping concerta or any other stim. for that matter due to the terrible rebound my son is experiencing. She says sometimes just using tenex is good for some kids. Right now she has presribed adding tenex in just a half pil at night to calm him down. So far last night was the first night and he fell asleep a bit earlier and woke up a bit happer, anyone know how long tenex takes to start working, as in days or weeks forgot to task the doc? Anyoine just ry the tenex. I'm also very interested in how the Amantadine goes for your 7 year old. I feel that my son may be bipolar but the docs. still stay it's too soon too tell. I've felt that way even since he was a baby and he's 8. His problems are not as much focussing and such as anger and mood swings. Time will tell I guess. |
