I am also dealing with medicaid issues...
I wanted to try vyvance for my granddaughter (it seems to be a very good and poputar medication right now )for Add but they wouldn't allow the prescription.
They said it was too expensive a med. and not necessary....... But they allow concerta.....said it was
close to it...and you only have to take one tablet a day....different dosages avaiable.....
I am not a dr...but isn't MetadateCD a form of the same medication as Concerta?????? It is timed released....and since you need medication x2
a day.....this is something I would look into...
It might not help or be the same type medication but I should think a Dr.
would know..... Or have a medication close to the one you have.
Or maybe one of the assistance programs could help with cost....they go by
income on most sites.
Thanks Mamaou for your kind advice. She has tried Ritalin and Concerta and the Ritalin made her worse, the Concerta did nothing and the Straterra was excellent but she developed severe bruising and her blood wouldn't clot correctly (Straterra is known for liver problems) so the psych took her off immediately. The only thing that seems to work is the Medadate CD and leaves her without harsh side-effects. Dr. is going to try to appeal it once again. I hate dealing with Medicaid - they are so unfair at times. Good luck to you and your grand-daughter.
If the Psych rx'd the 40 mgs in the AM, and 20 mgs in the Pm they would probably accept it. Or 20 mgs( or less) regular release
Why so much in the evenings?
check old posts for I remember one way back a year that listed companies that make the drugs will help you out in cost try the medication post section. good luck Jill Thanks to all. I didn't mean p.m as night. She is to take the 20mgs upon waking and then the 40 mgs after lunch while at school. She is only on the meds for school days. No vacations or over the summer. Sorry if I mislead you. In fact, I might even have the dosages mixed up! It may be 40 in a.m. and 20 in afternoon. Not sure, but I do know that 20 mgs. in a.m. and 20 mgs. in afternoon was not enough. She wants to work her up to 60 mgs. per day next month.
