ADHD after a head injury? | ADHD Information

Aquired adhd can happen after severe head injury.  Often the stim meds. don't work as well as ,say, wellbutrin, etc.  May I also suggest an anger management class to help with the aggresion and irritability?I've had 4 head injuries, but none like yours. I'm not sure about now, but before I was diagnosed ADHD, my Mom thought that it could have been heightened by those incidents.
As for Daytrana, I was older than their testing subjects. It didn't work for me, but it's not to say that it won't work for you. I just can't take most mainstream ADHD meds right now, because of my anxiety.
As for taking meds, I'd say, just take them.
I mean, I never realize my ADHD until I'm compared to another person my age or someone points out how hyperactive I seem.
I was wondering if you were an adult or teen. I am not sure how often Daytrana is prescribed to adults. From what I've seen the most common long acting medication for adults in the methylphedinate family  is Concerta or Focalin XR. Regular release Focalin or Ritalin also, but most adults need someting long acting. Good luck. I am sure adults COULD use Daytrana, just not sure it's been studied and where it is absorbed though the skin, it would make a difference between and adult and child.

I was diagnosed with ADHD 1 year ago ( I've always had but it became unmanagable after a car wreck in 1997 where I received a skull fracture). My wife made be go to a dr. they but me on Adderall IR and titrated doses, I apparently metabolize meds quickly, so he swithched me to Adderal XR and have had repeated dose adjustments (lower and higher ect). Now I am getting into problems again with my inabiltity to sit down, and control my mouth. I was going to ask him to try Ritalin LA or that Daytrana patch thing. I exercise 1.5 hours a day get exactly 7.5 hours of sleep, and eat low fat foods. I follow all food restrictions of the ADHD diet. I was put on Vyvance temporarily- it actually made me hyper (even more hyper than normal) and was DC'd. He has currently maxed out my Adderall XR at 60 mg in 4/ 15 mg doses every 6 hours. At first I had no more vivid dreams, no more excessive talking, no more bad temper and irritability, and I even quit grinding my teeth at night. Now it's all coming back! Oh yeah, I have an atypical response to stimulants- they actually lower my Heartrate and blood pressure. I myself would rather not take anything, evryone else says they will not be around me if I don't take it.

Anyway, would someone tell me if the Daytrana patch would be better, or suggest something else. I promise, I am actually take the med and no longer flushing it down the toilet.
