Just wanted to give an introduction.
My daughter is 13 years old and has ADHD. She was diagnosed at 6 years old and really had a rough time in Kidnergarten. She has been on Ritalin(became very violent within a week of starting it) dexidrined was having twicties and not eating. starterra just stopped working adderall xr just stopped working seroquell made them take her off because it was not approved for children. now she is on dexidrined and risperdal. but right now she is acting like a two year old because i wont let her make a sandwhich after she blatantly went in my cinnamon after i told her not to. before she got on the dexidrine and risperdal she was on straterra adderall and risperdal when it stopped working. She started getting very violent in school ended up choking a student which got her placed on home school now she is in another day treatment program which i was trying to get her out of but she wants to do things her way. I'm currently trying to ignor her banging on my wall and yelling how unfair i am.
hi, welcome.
Who diagnosed her? Is she in any counseling? Sounds like a lot going on? Are they sure it's only ADHD?
Well she was diagnosed in NY we currently reside in SC I'm trying to get her reevaluated now she has not had an unbiased evaluation since she was six. I'm now trying to get a copy of those records from the center that evaluated her. And I say she had a biased evaluation because in NY she went to a clincal daytreatment program that had their own psych and counselors and wouldn't let her see any outside counselors. so all evaluations they did on her while she was going there which was from 6 1/2 till 11 1/2 were to benefit them since they were a private program.I think you are doing the right thing. It is time for a re-eval. Good luck.
I also have a 13 year old.
godsgrace you can contact your local DSS for help they can assign you a worker to link you to services available so you are not doing it alone I do the job myself and do have voluntary cases like this. I also have the court mandated too but that is life. There are many services available also getting another screening is a good idea.
