I think you mean:
"you just couldn't help your elf"

Well when I read that earlier I'm sure there was an "s" in there!
Well no. If you filled it in CVS and now are at Rite Aid , they have no way of knowing But if you go to CVS in XYZ town and then go to CVS in ABC town, they have a central database they can check.
I know you are trying to avoid a hassle but word to the wise...If you have insurance, let the pharmacy get the overide. Dont pay cash cuz its easier. A HUGE red flag is someone buying controlled drugs with no insurance. Most *shady* people( and I am in NO way saying thats you!!) pay cash so there is no trace and change pharmacies all the time. Always best to be on the up and up.
Good luck!
My shrinque wouldn't let me control my daily uptake.
It was his way or no way.
So I take his prescription, fill it, and dose my elf as I see fit.
I end up all right.
Hello!
I am new to the forum. I am 28 and was diagnosed with adult ADHD a few months ago. My psych put me on Vyvanse 70, which has helped to a degree. It's not the perfect drug for me because it's too long-lasting, however. I would like a med that I can control throughout the day by taking more or less of it depending on my work and stress levels (something like adderral). I am also interested in switching psychs, since he doesn't seem to be willing to prescribe an alternative.
I already have an appt with another psych this month. I also have filled a month's supply of Vyvanse.
My question is ---
When the other doc writes me a month's supply script for another ADHD med, will I be able to fill it, or is there a federally regulated limit on how many of these can be filled per month? I realize my insurance won't pay for the additional script, and I am willing to pay out of pocket.
Someone told me I could only get one script for ADHD meds a month, period, regardless of insurance or no insurance.
Anyone know if the Feds will prevent me from filling the second script?
I work in a pharmacy, have for 25 years. Right now I work in a 3rd party dept which works all rejected claims for meds.
If your doctor changes your medication, your insurance WILL pay for it. If your doctor decreases or increases your dosage, your insurance WILL pay for it. There is no law on how many controll substances you can get per month as long as a MD writes for them. Think of a person who is very ill and is taking different pain meds for management of pain? Sometimes we have people taking 4 to 5 different things at differnt doses for different times. I have had to change my sons meds, mid way thru therapy and my insurance company has always paid.
The only problem you may come across is the fact that it is two different doctors may raise a FLAG with the pharmacy, who may call the MD to verify the script.
All the pharmacy has to do, once verified is call your insurance company and tell them you have had a med change and the previous med was discontinued. An added plus would be fore you to return the vyvanse to the original pharmacy so they can destory it and they will give you documentation that they did.
Hope this helps!
Thanks, it helps. Just curious -- do pharmacies look at a national or regional database of a customer's med history? I.e., if I go to a pharmacy where I never filled a script, will they see that I have already filled it for that month in a different pharmacy, even if I don't use insurance to pay for it?
I am not trying to be shady here, but if I can avoid potential hassle, I would rather do so!
Thanks for the input!
Does your elf know you're dosing him/her? I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself. That's ADHD for ya!
