IMPULSE CONTROL | ADHD Information
Hey everyone. I am new to to this whole ADHD thing and I have
some questions. I believe that my fiance may have adult
ADHD. His main problem is impulse control. Especially with
drugs. I was doing some research on it and came across info for
ADHD. It seems like he does everything, without thinking about it
first. It has caused a huge strain on our relationship. He
does realy stupid things sometimes and I fear for myself and our
son. The latest was at Thanksgiving dinner at my Grandmothers
house. He was in my mom's truck to get something and stole zanax
from her purse and took them. He ended up acting like a jerk and
embarrassing me in front of my family. When we got home he was
rude to me and said very hurtful things. This isn't the first
time this has happened. He has other ADHD syptoms, such as:
forgetfulness, lack of attention, hard time keeping jobs, unorganized,
etc. My main issue with him is the impulses with drugs and
driving. Could this be ADHD??? Someone please help, I am at
my wits end.
It could just be the drugs. It is tough to tell what a person's problems may be until they get the drugs (and/or alcohol) out of the picture. He's got a drug problem.
Get yourself safe.
If you really mean something to him, he'll clean himself up.
Don't put up with that s**t, it will destroy you, your child and even your family.
Don't look for excuses for his bad behaviour.
Having ADD is no excuse for bad behaviour.
If having ADHD was the reason for taking Zanax, then it doesn't justify how he acted after taking them. Impulsivity in ADHD is usually with things like talking, or fast reactions. I don't think it's any justification for stealing or drug use, maybe it's not so much of an ADHD problem?
