The past 5 months, my anxiety and panic attacks have been out of whack. A few days ago, I started having a panic attack, and out of nervousness or whatever, I digging my nails into my arm nervously, and it seemed to help mellow my panicking (I was in the middle of an assembly and I couldn't get out). I haven't done anything to my ams for a couple of years, and I really don't want to start again. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Thanks! ~ Katie Katie are you on any medication for the panic attacks and anxiety? If not it may not be a bad idea to help you many people suffer from panic and anxiety. It is wonderful you can see and feel the signs of when you need help insight is half the battle. Talk to your doctor or psychologist. Katie, That kind of gave me "flash backs" to when I used to get so annoyed by things that I would do things like you are discribing, digging nails into my arm, bitting my knee, ..... whatever it took basically. Do you have a diagnosis? If not, getting one is the first step. Until then, try to come up with something that you can do to take your attention away from the anxiety, dodeling or something. Look for a constructive replacement, and when you are successful, reward yourself! A good pat on your on back can go much farther than you might imagine. If you have any idea what is causing the panic/anxiety in the first place see if there is something that you can do in the future to keep yourself from being exposed to the catalyst. Along the lines of Newton, "what's kept in, must come out". I'm guessing that you are on the quieter side and not likely to have a loud out burst. Yet if you think about it, you are directing the realease of what's bugging you right back into yourself. Feeding it and allowing it to grow. Not knowing anything about you I'm assuming you are 13ish. Doctors or psycholigists might be intimidating and not readily accessable. Find a trust worthy adult to talk to; parent, teacher, guidence councelour, someone in your church, etc. Ask them to help you get the help you need. Oops, Keke. Read it too fast, sorry about that. Duh, ok, signed Katie. Guess it's past my bed time! hey katie , i no how it feels i am the same with anxiarty and panik atakes and i started self harming , but i now take prozac witch helps me a major amount, so if yhoo are not already on it i wld recomend talking about it with your doctor.
