adderall can become habit forming if abused. Taken properly under a doctors supervision he will be fine.

My son was given a script for adderall this morning.  I have not  filled it yet cause I wanted to research it some more.  I a little concerned now because I see that it's habit forming.  He's only 7 and that does concern me.  Any advice?  How is working for your children?  any info would be nice.  Thank's

It depends on the individual, as someone else said. Sometimes, you need to up the dose, as your body sometimes becomes a little immune to it. I'm pretty sure that they started me on 20 mgs., too, when I started long-term, when I was 13. They bumped me up after a while, but never by too much. I kept the little tablets for like weekends and study sessions-- started on 5 mgs., but later moved up to about 7.5 mgs.
I have a friend, who takes 2 20s in the morning, 2 20s in the afternoon, then as needed at night and stuff.
So it really depends.
do any of you out there have your children on a total of 30mg.xr. my 9 yr. old is on 20mg. but possibly will be at 30 by end of next week do to symptoms of adhd not controlled. how long did it take for your child to see effects of adderall after intially started their dosage?.You should see results almost immediately, but give it a week or two at least at each dose to see if it is working. my son is now on adderal at 20mg. in the morning (xr) tab. and on ten of regular adderal10mg. ( non xr tab) at 3:00pm. what is the average dose for this medicine. i know the recomended amounts but for those parents whose chidlren are on them how much and what are your sugestions. fatherwithkids39466.6609259259

Adderall is dosed by symptoms, not by weight or size. Most start on 5-10 mgs and work up according to need.
