Figuring out which dr to go to | ADHD Information

I am still confused as to which dr we should be seeing.  My son was dx by a psychologist.  I switched to a psychiatrist for the meds but we really see the NP and not the dr.  I don't like the NP b/c all he wants to do is meds and does not give me any advice for behaviors that we can use at home or at school.  So now I am going to another psychologist who must have a psychiatrist in the office as they just gave us a script for Tenex.  Do I need to take him to a neurologist?  And what is the difference between a neurologist and a neuropsychologist?  Do I need to take him to both?  I'm just very confused as to how many drs we should be seeing now.  If his problems were helped with the meds I wouldn't be concerned but we're still having a lot of issues and I don't feel that we've gotten very far with just the psychiatrist/np.A neurologist can prescribe meds, and Neuropsych cannot. I would find another Psychiatrist. A neurologist is an MD, and probably would not be of much help with ADHD. A neuropsychologist is a PhD, and would be helpful with diagnosis and treatment recommendations, but only an MD can prescribe meds. Going to the psychologist with the psychiatrist in the office is probably your best bet, given your description of what you are looking for. The offices with multiple disciplines sounds like where you want to be.
