Tried Focalin What next | ADHD Information

It's pretty common that when a med is new-ish and has no generic equivalent that most insurance companies will either be reluctant or refuse to pay altogether.

Ritalin works quite well for the majority of younger children.  My stepson was treated very successfully with dexedrine (I take it too as an adult ADHDer).

Perhaps ask the pharmacist to give you a list of the preferred meds for ADHD and bring that list to your doctor and help to find the best one for your child.
So the insurance company does not want to pay for Focalin XR for my 6 yr old because they say there are other things that have the same effect on my son that Focalin does for less. that are on thier "preferred" list.   Your thoughts would be appreciated. Kris
