(The full title wouldn't fit - "The ADD Answer: How To Help Your Child Now" by Dr. Frank Lawlis) I just took this book out from the library and have started reading it. I chose it because a LOT of the books on ADD and ADHD there were really very old (disappointing) and this was the newest one (2004 copyright) that seemed it might be of help to me. Has anyone read it already? Was it a worthwhile read? Or should I just skip it and find something more updated? I appreciate any info you can give me. I have this book and I really don't like it much. It's too clinical for me, and there is a chapter where he does give you a few websites to visit, and all but one want you to buy something. I mean, there are a few things in there that are worthwhile, but it's not helping me much. It has a lot of "audits" to use to check your child, and there is a nutrition section regarding vitiamins and foods. There's a really good sleep section, but my son doesn't have sleep problems with his ADHD. I like The ADD Book by William Sears, MD and Lynda Thompson, PhD. I'm still not finding everything I'm looking for, but it has a lot of information and ideas to help my son. I skipped ahead in the ADD Answer book, looking to see if there was an answer, and I haven't seen it yet! :-) I think it's only a national bestseller because he's always featured on Dr. Phil. But that's just my opinion. |
