We too put our son's concerta in a spoonful of pudding.  Since you don't have to chew pudding, he just swallows it right down.  Works like a champ!

In the beginning, I took some fudge and put the pill inside it.  He swallowed it fine.  Then I took away the fudge.  He didn't want to take it because of the taste.  He still doesn't take it with any drink or food but he is used to it now. (Concerta)

Strat is a capsule, and cannot be chewed. It can be compounded into a Nasty tasting liquid.

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to get my 6yr old to take his medication. He used to be on ritalin 10mg twice daily which he chewed. That was giving him major highs and lows so he was put on concerta but he cannott and will not take the tablet. He refuses point blank to swallow it.

The doc is on about putting him on stratterra but i understand that is a tablet too. Unfortunatly patches arent available in the uk as they sound as good as you can get on medication.

Has anyone experienced this problem and if so how do you manage? My son also has ODD which obviously dosent help the situation.

Thanks for your time.

i replied to this on the other thread. Practicing with mini m & m's or tic tacs is a good way to practice pill swallowingTry "hiding" it in a spoonfull of applesauce or pudding or jello. That's what I have to do with my son's Adderall capsule.  He keeps saying that he cant swallow it because it's plastic!   and this fear makes it hard for him to swallow with just a drink. He knows he can't chew it, but having something a little more solid than a drink makes it easier for him to swallow. Anything more solid and my son feels that he has to chew it before swallowing... and this med can't be chewed.
