New here.. | ADHD Information

Hey guys,

Firstly sorry if this is in the wrong place - I'm a newbie and still finding my way around :)

I'm 23 and in the midst of being diagnosed with Adult ADHD.
My mind is swirling (in every way ;) - so much makes sense. Yet at the same time I am very skeptical of alot as @ 21 was diagnosed and medicated for Bipolar (which I have read is a common misdiagnoses)

Just wanted to say hi :) And any advice is more than welcome - it's a case of sooo much info out there that I don't know where to begin!!!

Yo! Welcome in!

I found that for my first few hours on this site I spent my time thinking 'oh! thats why I do that' or 'oh! I thought I was the only one to do that!' or 'Ah! its not me being awkward/slow'

I've always thought that research is the key, and the more I learn, the better I cope with myself forgetting what I'm saying half way through scentences! heh.

If you have concentration problems like me, I find that classical music is great, people have talked about white noise, but I'm yet to try it out!

If you get hyper you can learn to avoid situations that spark it off, but I like getting hyper somethimes!!

Then theres all the bits in between, your quirks, the frustration, the job loss, the irritation of people interupting or not doing things like you ask then blaming it on you, the social situations, the losing your keys, forgetting what you're saying, the impulsive behaviour, the looking for your slippers in your store cupboard... the list goes on! You have to find what bugs you and what you feel can be improved on.

If you have any questions at all, just post them, people on here have helped me no end and have been a god send to say the least!

Good luck! x

Thanks!!!

Haven't delved to far in - but from what I've read so far I've certainly had that happening, the 'Ohhhhhh click!!! that's whyyyy'

Yeah I have mad concentration problems, especially at the moment - trying slow music as opposed to rock :)

Yep I agree, sometimes I try to 'destimulate myself' other times I enjoy the hyperness :)

Still haven't been diagnosed completely but after all the diagnoses over the years this is the one my gut is going, 'Omg how did no one get this before!!!'

Thankies!
