"The Big Day" | ADHD Information

Hey everyone! Today is "the big day" Hayley goes to her 1st psych. appt. I hope I don't have my expectations set too high. Does any one know what to expect from a 1st time appt? I have lots of materials to take...school papers,parent/teacher conference,many notes I have taken over the last few months so I don't forget anything or forget to ask any questions. Any more suggestions? Wish us "luck". Thank you all for all the help and advice you have been giving this newbie!I don't have any advice to offer as we are awaiting our first pscyh appt on Monday also, but I just want to offer my support.  Be strong & ask any and all questions you have prepared.  I have regrets many times for not asking the questions I have prepared simply because I get caught up in discussion & before I know it, time is up.  Good luck!

Usually the first apt. is spent with the Dr. asking questions.

How old is Hayley?  Depending on the Dr. he/she will ask the child questions, draw pictures, etc. Usually the Dr. will try to establish a relationship. 

Bring all your insurance info.

There is not much  therapy at the first meeting.  The first meeting is also a good time for you to get a feel if you like the Dr.
