My dd ,almost 10 years old, 4th grade has been on stimulants since K. We're having a hard time getting her on the right med and dosage right now. Basically when she is on adderall XR her grades are good but her hyperactivity really comes through. When she is on concerta her hyperactivity is better controlled but she struggles academically which she has never done. Her evenings and nighttime are better on the adderall but her teacher complains about her behavior. It's odd b/c when she is on concerta she seems older and more with it but her grades are bad and the rebound and sleeping aren't great. WHen she is on adderall she is more hyper and immature but her grades are much better. For each med, she takes a high dose and her psychiatrist does not want to increase. Any suggestions??? Could we add something?
I've read a lot of people using tenex but mostly with concerta or some other ritalin product. I'd love to try combining it with adderall. Has anybody ever combined tenex with adderall?
This year has really been a struggle for her maily because I feel like she has built up a tolerance to the stimulants and they just aren't working as well.
Thanks for reading! Jo
Tenex will help with impulsivity and sleep, but not focus. I have heard of kids taking it with Adderall,.Tenex will help with impulsivity and sleep, but not focus. I have heard of kids taking it with Adderall,.
Edbson is right. However the tenex can help with anxiety which can interfere with focus.
It sounds like it would be a good combo to me. The Tenex can help with the impulsivity like Edbson says and the Adderall helps her focus. Thanks for the responses. Does tenex help with anxiety? She is not anxious at all normally but the adderall does cause fingernail biting as well as a lot of inhibition in her. It would be nice for her to get the focus without the inhibition/nervousness.
Thanks Jo
Anxiety is on the list of things Tenex is supposed to help.
