Daytrana, Can you find it? | ADHD Information

Hi all, I'm new here but just wondering if anyone else is having a hard time getting a refill for Daytrana?  My son is on the 15 mg patch and no pharmacy in town has been able to get more than a 10 day starter kit supply.  We've used this medication for over a year now and have been very happy with the results.  We did have the issues with the backing, but we've simply left the patches in the refridgerator and it solved the problem. 

Now I've gone through all the pharmacies and all our written prescriptions.   I called the Shire/Daytrana helpline today to ask when the medication will be available again since the pharmacies aren't able to get it in.  I was told that "Current Supply Levels are Suffient" and "Have your pharmacy order more through their distributor".  (As if my pharmacist hasn't already been trying that for a month now) The only thing she would do is send me on to the Daytrana prescription locator and they are trying to track down the medication for me.  Funny thing is that it's been over an hour now and they still haven't called me back, (she said she'd be calling me right back).  Seems to be that the "suffient supply levels" are not suffient for at least my area.  I am in Minnesota.

Just wondering if anyone else is having difficulties in their areas.  I really don't want to have to change to a different medication, but we will have no choice after 2 weeks.  I'm not going to let my child suffer simply because the "supply levels" are NOT sufficient.

I apologize if this is too negative of a post.  If any of you are parents, you already know how difficult it is to get controlled substance medications for your child in the first place, let alone actually get the medications on hand when you need them.  We've been through numerous challenges with this over the past 4 years.  This one takes the cake though!


purplebug39482.3427430556We too live in Minnesota but haven't had trouble getting our Daytrana.  I did notice that the last 30 day refill we got came in 3 10-day starter kits to complete our 30 day prescription.  Maybe that's the same issue but we didn't have any problem getting 3 boxes to fulfill what we needed.  I would definately be persistant, if this med is working for your child it would/could be a nightmare to have to change meds just for that silly reason!  good luck!  I am in Connecticut and I had the same problem last week.  I was told they were on back order through my pharmacies distributor.  I found some at our target and ran over to fill my rx after calling several local pharmacies.  I am dreading my next refill.  We just made the switch from the 1omgs which was never a problem.  Good LuckI used to call the pharmacy a week ahead of time for them to order it, solved the problem.

Yes ... after a year i am having trouble getting the 15 mg Daytrana patches.

Shire is now making them ONLY in a 10 pack box.  No more 30 packs.  They would not tell me why.
