I went for a follow up appointment with my Dr. today, and was informed that my insurance wouldnt pay for the visit because it was for ADD. Has anyone else experienced this? I have a regular family doctor, and he has been managing my care for almost 3 years. BCBS considers my medication "nonprefered" and charges me a month, and now they won't pay anything towards my office visits... There is no generic for what I take, and I am ok with paying copay for the medicine. The thing I have a problem with is BCBS not paying for Dr visits.

BCBS has always paid their sheir of my meds.

I have them now.

They do make me buy generics.

However, I've noticed no difference in their efficacy.

I always pay my pshrynque phees, b/c thare share is above my co-pay; and dauck only charges me /visit.

We were informed (2 yrs. after my son was dx'ed) that the visits pertaining to adhd (mental health care) would be covered at a different rate than regular medical visits.  I was kind of annoyed because I feel they should cover mental health care at the same rate as everything else, but. . .

You should check your policy- adhd visits are considered mental health and there should be a section regarding your coverage in that area.  I don't think they can say that they won't cover certain disorders.
