This is my first post and I am glad to have found a support board with so much info.
My son was diagnosed at 4 1/2 yrs old and will be 6 next month. We have tried almost all meds and they start well but then seem to not work after a couple of months. We have been on Vyvanse since Sept. and like it overall but when he is on it he talks excessively and interupts. This is causing a lot of problems at school. We may have to hire a tutor to be with him during the day for a couple of hours to get thru academcis and so that his teacher can keep the rest of the class on task. He is in a private school with only 7 kids in his class.
His Dr. is suggesting adding Risperdal ( .25mg) at night and after reading about it we are hesitant. Anyone have any experience with it?? Any feedback would be great!!
Welcome to the board! You will find this board to be a wealth of support
My son, age five, is on Risperdal at night. We are on .5 mgs. After reading up on the med, I was extremely wary. No one wants their five year old on an anti-psychotic medication. He has had no side effects. Our MD is giving to him for agitation. He still talks non-stop, but doesn't talk at school( on occassion he does)I guess he saves it all up for us at home.
Is the excessive talking something new since changing meds? Or is he like my child and just NEVER shuts up.The Vyvanse may not be working as well as it should.
Our children are precious in His sight

hi
just to let you know that my DS never stops talking and asking questions which is good but the most annoying thing is he starts every sentence off with "excuse me mum" no matter what the sentence is about and no matter how long we have been having a conversation sometimes i am frustrated by this but at least he's talking to me.
welcome to this really great board it helps just by talking
