Thanks so much, I did call the pharmacist and he said because it is fast acting that is can be crushed and mixed in food. I will try my first dose tonight. Wiss me luck.
Call the pharmacist and ask. I've never heard of a tablet for Focalin, but my child used to take Focalin XR.Hi, My 6 yo son has been on 10 mg of Daytrana and just made the switch last week to 15 mgs and I love it. I just asked the MD for a rx for a booster for those evenings that we have boy scouts or religion to help him. He gave us focalin 5mg which I assumed was a capsule that could be opened and mixed with food but it is a tablet.
Does anyone crush the tablet and mix with food? Any idea on how fast it kicks in and how long it lasts? I am used to waiting 2 hours with the patch so I have no idea what to expect and we have a meeting tomarrow night for boy scouts.
Thanks for all you help...BTW I love this website and it has been a great asset in knowing there are other moms and dads out there dealing with the same issues!!
Thanks again

o, don't crush it, put it in [udding or applesauce to give it. It takes 30 or so miinutes to wrok, and lasts for 4 hours.
Yes the Focalin can be crushed. At least that is what the doctor told me.
My daughter complained the crushed Focalin tasted vile. The pills are really little and we practiced swallowing tic tacs and mini m&ms. In a week she was swallowing the Focalin.
We are also on Daytrana 15 mg and we got a Focalin 5 mg for those late nights as well (Girl Scouts, school activities etc).
We found for my DD that the patch takes about 2 hours to kick in fully. This year we started middle school and because of before class commitments we often leave at 7:15am. She was struggling with her before class activity (chorus) and 1st 2 periods.
We added Focalin 10 mg every morning when she first wakes up and it is a miracle. Only takes about 30 minutes to kick in.
