Vyvanse didn’t kick for 3 hours! | ADHD Information

He took it with milk and cereal. But he may have had some orange within the first 30 minutes.

What did he take it with? If he took it with OJ, or any citrus that would affect the meds. Food shouldn't affect it at all.

I need some feedback on this. My 9yr old ADHD/ADD son is given 50mg of Vyvanse around 7 am, just upon waking. He's been on it for about a month. Other than the fact that wears off by 5 for the ADHD, I'm ok. He gets his homework finished and is MUCH easier to deal with in the morning.

Well yesterday he bouced out of bed and had started eating breakfast before he had his pill. So I gave it to him while he was eating. Dad took him to school and all seemed normal. At 10 am I get a call at work that he was acting "crazy." He was crawling on all fours in the hallway and no one at school, even the director's 7 foot tall husband, could handle him. It took me 20 minutes to the get the school. When I got there, he was in the pre-school class coloring and was pretty much back to his good school-time behavior.

This scares me because I don't know how crazy he was and I can't trust that the medication will supress the HD enough for him to be at school.

Has this ever happened to anyone before? I hate that he so hyper that people fear being around him. The thing is, everyone will say he is not mean or a threat to other people, but he is a MAJOR threat to himself.

WE ARE ON 30MG OF VYVANSE ON WEEK 3, AND I SEE THAT ALL HIS BEHAIVIORS ARE NOT GONE BUT MOST ARE BETTER. HIS TEACH SAYS HE IS DOING BETTER ON THE MEDS WHICH IS GOOD, AND IT ONLY TAKES 30 MINUTES FOR IT TO HIT HIM, 1 HOUR FULLY.
