Ryan has been on vyvanse since November. He has been doing very well on it. The most worrisome thing is loss of appetite. He eats a pretty good breakfast but no matter WHAT i pack him for lunch, it comes home pretty much uneaten. Then he will snack and eat till bedtime!
The last week or so he has complained about headaches. I had to pick him up from school on Tuesday because he said his head hurt too much and the school wont give them advil/tylenol or anything.
He just had his eyes checked 2 months ago and got glasses that he wears every day, but takes them off at home. He complains in the morning.(even before his meds!) and periodically during the day and when he comes home at night.
He has been fighting a cold for a week or so , but no fever just congestion, runny nose, etc.
I am not sure WHAT is causing these headaches. My main theories are either the meds, (can you get a side effect months after starting the med?) , sinuses or allergies or the fact that he isnt eating much in the daytime.
My question is have any of you see headaches with vyvanse and also any ideas about the appetite? The school wont FORCE him to eat so cant even ask a teacher to encourage him to eat. Is there any med the md can give him to stimulate appetite. He only weighs about 60 lbs and is 10 years old and fairly tall.
I have been giving him advil when he complains but dont want him LIVING on that!!
Any advice would be help ful!
Thanks !
MY SON IS 9 ON VYVANSE AND GETS OCCASIONAL HEADACHES. I GIVE HIM TYLO FOR KIDS AND IT HELPS. HE ALSO EATS NOTHING DURING THE DAY, I MAKE HIM EAT BREAKFAST, THEN GIVE THE MED, PACK HIS LUNCHBOX WITH HEALTHY AND UNHEALTHY (LOL) SNACKS. HE EATS DINNER AND SNACKS UNTIL BED. HE ISN'T ANY SKINNIER BASED ON PANT FITTING, BUT HE ONLY WEIGHS 57 LBS. HE IS SKINNY ALREADY. AS A MATTER OF FACT, HE ATE LESS OVERALL W/O MEDS AS HE COULD NOT SIT STILL. SO I WOULD NOT WORY UNTIL THE DOC TELLS YOU TO. I WOULD TALK TO THE DOC ABOUT THE HEACHES THOUGH AS HE HAS BEEN ON THE VYVANSE A WHILE WE ARE ONLY ON WEEK4 COMING UP. GOOD LUCKif he's congested, it could be sinuses which could/would
