My 10 yr old daughter | ADHD Information
Tahoma
My 10 yr old daughter has been diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, and now bi polar. She is on adult doses of lithium, depokote and serequel. She is still acting out, somewhat violent, angry, destructive, hits and bites teachers and siblings, defiant, eats us out of house and home, very thirsty and uncontrollable. She talks like a baby sometimes not a 10 yr old. I have her in a special school now and she has an IEP but she is not doing well at all. She may have to stay back, she is in the 4th grade. I am at my wits end with her myself. She never use to be defiant or not listen to me but it is not only outside of the home now it is inside of the home. I have had to buy a safe and put her snacks in there. I also had to buy a lock for the fridge so she doesn't eat or drink everything. She should be sleeping through the night with the meds she is on but, she is up SEVERAL times a night. I am exhausted emotional and physically. I work and have to take days off for meetings at the school or after school program. I have a new psychiatrist for her but she can't do anything until she gets all of her records from the 5 hospitals and residential homes she has been in. Her diagnosis is bi polar nos. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I don't want her to go live in a residential home but I may have to do that. She has been kicked out of 4 daycares and I don't know if she is going to be able to stay in the after school program she is in now. She has been suspended for 3 days for going after another student and knocking everything off of the tables and counters and kicking chairs over. HELP....Kathy
My adult sister was on Lithium and they could never get the dosage right for
her ....finally they took her off of it for she was getting worse instead of better
on it. She was overdosed....Her rage and anger were bad on it...also its didn't
help the mood swings...Her doctors tried and tried all sorts of medication....
Its really hard to get the right one...The one that will work...but don't give up....
Her being only 10 years old....its so confusing for her...
Are they doing regular blood draws to test levels? This is required for all 3 meds you said she is taking. It sounds as if she just isn't stable, and until she is stabilized on meds she is going to have problems. BTW, every one of the meds she is on INCREASES appetite, so that is probably why she is eating so much.
