Two weeks ago we made a change in the timing of our 5DS's meds and for two weeks it has been wonderful!!
We used to give him 15mg of Methylin right away when he got up & the 15mg Daytrana patch about 7:30 before we left for school. Mornings were horrible, evenings were horrible, the only time he was good was all day at school.
So....we changed to giving his 15mg of Methylin at 7:30 just before we left for school so he had the ride to school for it to settle in his system. The school nurse puts his patch on about 9:30 in the morning so we still feel the effects of it in the evenings. It has been wonderful! The added bonus is that he's eating a better breakfast now too since he has no meds in his system yet. He also usually eats a decent dinner now too, since he's not rebounding & crabby. I think he pretty much picks at his lunch at school, because he's at his peak time for his patch, but 2 out of 3 meals is better than nothing!
Amazing that the meds were right for so long, we were just off on the timing!! We are finally at the point where everyone kept saying, "things will get better"! Thank you so much for all the support & suggestions, this board is great!!
Good for you. You worked with it until you achieved optimal results. Congrats for hanging in there.
It can be very frustrating but is worth it when it works. Now that you have come to this point, future adjustments as your son gets older and his needs change will not seem to big of a deal.
