abstract+concrete thinkers?
INFJ type description by D.Keirsey INFJ type description by J. Butt and M.M. Heiss You are:
LOL I SEEM PRETTY MODERATE!!!!
well according to it..i'm:
what does that mean?
I've been doing research on MBTI theory for a couple months now and I must say it is very interesting. Wildlad, the ENFP (what you typed out as) are known as the "journalists." Your type is known for searching for meaning in life. ENFPs are generally focused on intense emotional experiences. They are also known to have intense concentration and direct attention very easily, obviously very uncharacteristic for an ADDer. Some research papers indicate that there should be no correlation between personality type and disorders such as ADD. I believe otherwise. I've found a large number of ADDers that are INTP/ENTPs. Granted I'm surveying a very small number of data points, but I think it could hold true generally. You should note that there is a difference between psychological/psychoanalytical studies and "claimed" psychic power. No real science would indicate a quasi-supernatural power such as being psychic. That's not to say that you can't connect to people, or be able to perceive their emotions, because ENTPs certainly are supposed to be very perceptive. Just be careful with jumping to claims of psychic powers. Jung and MBTI theories have worked hard to earn the respect of skeptical scientists such as myself, so making a leap to the supernatural is only a detroment to them. Sorry for the rant. I personally type out as an INTP (known as "architects"-very fitting for me), although I feel that I might be closer to an extrovert. My extroverted qualities just may be smothered by the medication, which I've read is a common theme. I have a couple of friends who have been diagnosed with ADD and one is an ENTP and the other an INTP. The friend who is an ENTP has recently started to believe he actually isn't ADD. I believe that NTPs are the most overdiagnosed with ADD since they share many of the same characteristic traits. I think every young ADD/ADHD adult should read into Jung/MBTI theory to evaluate themself and try to figure out whether or not they are truly ADHD. Certainly for all the parents on here, do some reading on these personality types and you will understand more of why your child acts the way they act. All of my research is based on stuff done by David Keirsey, a very respected psychologist. My friend and I are currently in the process of collaborating some tests to see if we can search more into personality types and correlation to ADHD. Furthermore, I'd like to see the effects of stimulant based medication on suppressing natural personality types. >>> Lee <<<< I don't think personality should have anything to do with ones chance of being add. Anyone can have adhd. It doesn't matter on personality. If being a journalist made my life hell beacause of what appeared to be adhd, I don't know what to do or say..that makes me even more confused. What meds can you take for my personality type then? coz if it aint adhd, then god, don't personalities make your life hell just like adhd!![]() Anyway, I think that being adhd is better than being some dickhead journalist...I hate journalists. lol. by the way as for intense concentration, the only intense concentration i get is when I get dumped by a girl, coz I think about it for months and get stuck in a rut of negative thoughts, I read that was a characteristic of over-focused adhd. having difficulty going from one activity to the other. God now i;m confusedI got ENFJ.Laurala LOL I've never had any trouble going from one activity to another. In fact I usually don't even realise until after I've switched then I think wasn't I just doing this oh well I'll get back to it later.
My goddness...I don't have adhd?? because of the score...well..i'm hardly ever philisophical, or searching for the meaning of life. All I know is that I tune out constantly even to things that are interesting, as far as I know I have a bad attention deficit. I'm in a fog every day. I

I was simply giving you the profile of personality that you typed out as. If you don't fit the characteristics that fine, then the test was wrong. The tests can be very misleading. Many people give answers of what they "think" they are, not what they actually are. It's really hard to dig deep into one's "soul" and find your true personality. Plus, medication (especially stimulant based) suprresses your natural type so it becomes even more confusing. Look over the different temperments and see which one fits you. Oh yeah, and the title journalist is just a generalization of the that type, it's not specific of actually being a newspaper journalist or whatever. >>> Lee <<<<

ISTP (IS Toilet Paper) Now I feel Sh*ty. Does anyone know the difference between an abstract and concrete thinker? I've been considered by my psychologist an abstract thinker. I don't know what it is. what is concrete thinking? what's the diff?
The abstract mind is governed by a power center located between the eyebrows and is traditionally associated with right-brain functions. This aspect of the mind deals with philosophy, awareness and understanding. It sees the big picture and purpose. People who have developed their abstract mind are good at principles, creative abstractions and seeing the larger vision of companies and organizations. They talk about ideas, but without concrete mental development, they often never act on them.
I found this definition on the web. Seems like it describes ADHD people perfectly. Tons of great ideas but difficulty putting them into action. It's supposedly based on the Carl Jung's personality theory. You can get more info and take some of jung's personality/typology tests at the site below. http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jungtype.htm well according to it..i'm:
what does that mean? Wildlad you are just so like me!
Bet your interested in psychic stuff too. Actually i was kinda interested in psychic stuff rae. I used to have dreams that would come true sometimes. I though I was psychic. but i dont knw if i am. I seriously doubt it some how. What do all those scores indicate? Well rae I guess both of us are wonderful Kool good idea wild we should all post our results see how alike/different we are.

The best example i can give is from my own experience while learning algebra in grade school. Instead of learning math using rote memory, I learned the concepts much easier than my classmates. However, I think I've exploited abstact understanding of the world to compensate for my weakness in learning and memorizing the material word for word. We seem to be advanced in the ability to extract or "abstract" complicated ideas out of this world, which does give us a great advantage in scientific fields. There is no doubt that we may be disabled in the area of attention to detail, but we are gifted in the area of abstraction. Einstein, who was classic ADD is our greatest example of what the ADD mind can accomplish. Well this is what I understand from what I read. There are four aspects to everyones personality (according to Jung anyway). The number value tells you what are your dominant characteristics. Your either:
Your extroverted/introverted score is how outgoing and social you are. Higher scores mean more outgoing lower numbers mean your more shy and prefer socializing in smaller groups. Your sensitive/intuitive score explains what drives your actions. If you respond to things through emotion(external conditions, attitudes and feelings of others) or act instinctively (acting more on impulse) Your thinking/feeling score is how you reason or solve problems. Do you rely on facts or do you focus more on emotions when making a decision. Your judgemental/perceptive score is how you view others, it's very similar to thinking/feeling. Do you view them by their actions(facts) or by their intentions(emotions). From your scores I'd guess you are somewhat shy, a bit impulsive, make decisions based on how you are feeling, and react to people based on what they might do instead of on what they have done. Not sure how accurate all that is. That's just what I understand from it. mafiakiddo, what do these results tell us about ourselves? I can't understand them at all! |
