How long have you been taking the Wellbutrin? I'm on 300mg of Wellbutrin and 25 of adderall- I've taken xanax in the past for anxiety but don't need it anymore.
They are not the same things- wellbutrin is an anti-depressant that that works by increasing dopamine in the brain- it is also effective in treating adhd for the same reason. Adderall is a stimulant medication used in treating adhd- stims are usually very effective, but since they wear off after 8-10 hours many people do better when taking them in conjunction with an anti-depressant like wellbutrin that stays in their system 24/7. Xanax is an anti- anxiety med that is supposed to be used short- term, as needed. It is potentially addictive, but since it works quickly (and effectively) doctors often prescribe it for use until other meds start taking effect.
I would just be very careful- you should not stop taking the wellbutrin without talking to your doctor first, but also keep in mind that Sam-e is considered a dietary supplement in the US and is not FDA regulated, meaning you don't know how pure it is- some "natural" medicines have been found to contain high levels of lead and other undesirable substances.
I am taking 12mg of Adderall. 300mg of bupropion (generic Wellbutrin) and .05 Alprazolam ( generic Xanax). Can anyone tell me if they are on the same things? Have you noticed that you feel better? I just started the Adderal. I was wanting to start taking Sam-e to help with making me happier but was told by the pharmacist that I can't take it with the Buproprion. So, I was possibly going to stop taking the Bupropion when I start to run out, just decrease the dosage and start taking the Sam-e. Any thoughts? I have been on Wellbutrin for 3 years now. 300 mg. Thank you guys for all of the advice. I had heard great things about the Sam - E Mood plus, but needed more input. I don't know which would be better. Thank you again. Has anyone else tried Sam-E Mood Plus? How did it make you feel? the Wellbutrin must be "ramped down", or weaned off. Don't jsut stop taking it when you run out. If you want to go off it talk to your doctor and explain that you want to come off it and ask the safest way to do this. I agree with jaderock, be careful with your supplements, research well and know your ingredients and what the side effects are. Each company makes them different and no one is overseeing it, so choose with care.
