So we have been on Daytrana almost a year.
Started on the 10 mg and wound up on the 15mg. We also take Focalin first thing in he morning as my daughter is in middle school which starts VERY early before the patch kicks in.
Yes along the way we got 2 bad boxes but Shire replaced them both.
I get the patches 3 months at a time from our mail in prescription plan.
They arrived today in a huge box. I was SHOCKED. When I opened it I found 3 large boxes ... which each contained 3 10 packs. So yes a 90 day supply.
The 10 packs were clearly marked not for individual sale ... all kinds of legal labels on them. The box that contained the 3 10 packs ... were clearly marked from Shire as a resplacement for the 1 30 pack.
I called the mail order pharmacy who told me that is the only way Shire is manufacturing the 15 mg.
So next I called Shire and they confirmed they are only making Daytrana 15mg in boxes of 10.
They said it was a "manufacturing decision" and would not elaborate further.
This does give me pause for concern. There have been lots of rumors since the beginning of the year that this medicine may come off the market.
I think getting it in boxes of 10 is better. The reason is that if you get a box of 30 that is bad you are stuck with that whole box. I prefered the 10 but we have switched to concerta a few weeks ago due to the itching getting too bad for my son. He was on the patch for almost a year and I did like it.
