adderall xr and insomnia | ADHD Information
I had trouble falling asleep when I started Adderall but it did subside after a month or so. Whenever I take a med break, even a couple days, it seems like the med effect is stronger when I start back up, so trying Straterra again may work for you. You could also try regular Adderall, not the extended release. The shorter duration formula may affect your sleep less. Just remember to start out low if you try that... 15 mg of XR = a 7.5 mg dose of IR+ another 7.5 mg four hours later.
My doc prescribes clonidine at bedtime, it also helps with adhd.Hi,
I posted a while back but don't frequent here too much. I am a 23 year old graduate student and have adhd. I started out on strattera for 3 years until it wasn't effective, then moved onto to Daytrana, which I couldn't get the backing off of (have they resolved that yet?!), then onto Concerta which gave me ridiculous headaches. Now I'm on adderall xr, which is absolutely amazing- I can focus for the first time in months! I am on 15mg which I take first thing in the morning. I have only taken it 2 days, but so far have had horrible insomnia. I got 2 hours of sleep the first night, and 3 hours the second night. I tried Benedryl and melatonin, neither of which worked. Will the insomnia go away when I get used to the drug, or do I need yet another med change? My psych said that the strattera might work for me again since I've been off for a year, does this sound logical to any of you?
Thank you so much for your help!
