Talking Fast on Adderall | ADHD Information

I take Vyvanse and notice I talk so fast that sometime I stutter.  I really don't care though because the benefits outweigh the side affects.  When I ran out my 30 day free trial of Vyvanse, I could not afford to have it refilled since insurance only covers for patients under 12 years old.  Doc put me on 60 mg a day of Adderall.  I tried taking two 10mg at a time and nothing.  Took two more after 3 hours, still nothing.  I finally took the last two and by that time I had an extreme headache.  I gave it a chance for a few days but finally broke down and bought the Vyvanse for 0.  Good new though, the FDA has approved Vyvanse for use in adults and as of May 1, 2008 it will be covered by most insurances.  Get the 30 day free trial now and by May you won't have to pay so much.  I also have anxiety, slight narcolepsy and bipolar II.  I take Lamictal 100 mg and 10mg Klonapin at bedtime.  This combo works great for me.your meds need to curb your symptoms with little to no side effects. If you are seeing side effects that outwiegh the symtpom relief (increased BP) change meds.I have just been recently diagnosed with mild to moderate Adult ADHD.  I went to a phD then to an ADHD Clinic in So. California. Both said ADHD. Doc gave me adderall. As he upped the dosage, it started to work.  It felt amazing... the background noise stopped.  I read a few books, inc. Deliverd Distraction.  The mild cases were as if I wrote them.  Doc has kept upping the dose. Been at 20mg 2x a day (the tabs), but it wear off 3hours from ingestion.  Doc sent it up to 30mg and I think I hit my limit.  Doc has also noticed that my blood pressure is on the high side.  On my first visit it was in the optimal range.  Doc is keeping an eye on that.  Has me concerned b/c I am phenominal shape for my age. 35.  A few friends of mind have said independently that I am talking faster than normal.  Anyone have that happen?  Isn't the Adderall suppose to stop this.  Reading has been better and I have been feeling much better.  WTF? PeteLarson39505.9322916667when doses are too high (or too low) they can increase symptoms. You may just not be able to handle Adderall, maybe a methylphedinate med would be better.

The doc is looking into that, it is just this talking fast thing.  People noticed it when I was at 5mg tabs.  Why would a medication that is suppose to settle impulses increase them?  My reading comp is so much better. My anxiousness associated with my ADHD is practically gone, including the fidgetiness.  And the demoralizing effect it had on me is pretty much gone as well.  I know I have it.  This has been a months diagnosis, including a second opinion.  Just frustrated.  I want to be normal, not stand out like i use to.

So I just got a call from my Doctor's office.  She told me that everyone's blood pressure reacts differently to stimulants.  An increase in blood pressure is common when one is on stimulants.  So what I have learned, if your blood pressure and pulse are runninh high to your usual standards, you tell your doctor about it, you trust your doctor, then don't worry about it.  I guess it is all about trust, which many of us ADHD'ers have a hard time doing.  We can be perfectionists and compulsive, and also anxious.  NOW THIS IS INTERESTING... this I never heard before... Both of my docs never uncovered anxiety through their repective examinations.  Though I had it strong in my family.  The other night I started to obsess and worry about my blood pressure.  It impacted me and got me discouraged.  The doc's office said.  You likely have anxiety.  It just never showed itself before.  She said when your anxious you worry.  The way some ADHD'ers cope with this is through structure.  So I solved my anxiety problem on my own...untill the meds kicked in.  Again, I have mild ADHD.  My symptoms only surfaced severly when my coping mechs broke down at a low point of my life, which got me depressed.  The office said, now your anxiety is unleashed.  I free'd it.   The meds free'd it  Now it is looking for a place to go. In the past I used it to cope with my ADHD. I was using it for good.  She said a lot of ADHD'ers experience this.  So what I did was I got all obessive about my blood pressure and it created anxiety.  She said I now have the choice of where to apply it.  They're not going to treat that animal yet...they want to make sure oabout the adderall first.  I know this is off my initial topic, but I thought it was important enough to share.  Oh yeah...my talking fast and hyperness that seemed to unleash on this stuff... Doc said I had it in the past...so I am just hyperfocusing on it.  She said I am just aware of it more.  And if it is increasing b/c of the adderall, again, the adderall will focus on whatever you want it to.  This answer wasn't all that clear, but I'll wait it out.  Let the meds stablize in my system, then see where I am.  I guess it all goes back to trusting your doc.
