strattera questions... | ADHD Information

Kellibelli - read through some of the other posts about Strattera if you haven't done so already.  There are a bunch in this "Medications" area, including a thread or two that I started.  I have read others complaining of similar symptoms.  There is a lot of good info in this section, you just may have to dig a little.  Hopefully someone that can give you some good advice will answer you soon.

Good luck!

Greyhoundmom0339508.8427083333I found the weight based dosing, so that problem is resolved...

But, I havent been able to find any posts about Wellbutrin and Strattera being used together.  Does anyone know anything about that?I have been on Strattera 100 mg since approximately November with good results.  However, I have been having a hard time focussing at work over the past month or so and it is worrisome to me.  My concerns are several:  At 206 pounds, am I on the correct dosage?  If I need a higher dose, then I wont be able to afford it because my insurance doesnt cover the expense.  Any ideas?  ALSO, I have had some depression/anger that has been underlying, consistently there over the past several weeks to maybe a month and a half.  I am a single mom and under lots of stress anyways, but it has been hard for me to kick the crappy attitude I have had.  I am just now starting to pull myself out of it for lack of better wording, but it has been intense.  I have tried Cymbalta in the past and I had a bad reaction.  Same with Effexor.  Before my psychiatrist passed away last year, he said that the best antidepressants for a person with ADD/ADHD would be SNRIs and NOT SSRIs.  I believe that leaves me with the option of Wellbutrin.  Does anyone know if these two medications can be taken together?  If so, I will attempt to find myself another good psychiatrist and try to get the ball rolling on this issue.  Thanks for your help.  :)I'm not sure you can go higher than 100mb on Strattera (I don't think so). Some people use a small stimulant dose with Strattera and/or with Wellbutrin, so maybe that's an option. Not sure you'd use Wellbutrin AND Strattera together. Thanks for the help...

I found that Wellbutrin would be covered by my insurance with only a small copay as opposed to the Strattera which is 5.  Do you have any experience with Wellbutrin being effective on ADD/ADHD symptoms?  I am curious if it would be as effective as the Strattera for me.  Again...its amazing how the budget drives my decision-making process.everyone is different. For my daughter it didnt help with focus as much as the Strattera, but others use it successfully. I think it's probably easier for an adult as adults have developed osme coping skills and a 12 year old has not. She was very happy and updeat on the Wellbutrin, even keeled, but for school it didnt help enough with focus and attention. It may be worth a try even just for the money savings and where the Strattera doesnt sound like it's quite cutting it for you. Thanks so much for your help...

That is the big question for me.  Strattera has made a BIG difference in my lack of patience, etcetera...it has really brought my "Green Monster" down to a much more manageable level, but I still struggle with my ability to focus at work...and because I am paid on production focus is kind of a big factor.  I would be willing to try Wellbutrin for the savings even if the effect on focus is perhaps not as good simply for the fact that I would have an extra hundred dollars or so a month that would not be "needed" towards my medications.

Do you know if there is any ramping up with the Wellbutrin for adults?  How about ramping down with the Strattera?

Again, your help has been so wonderful.  I really appreciate your time and help.no ramp down on Strattera, and I believe yes there is a ramp up with Wellbutrin, but not sure how it's handled for adults.thanks so much  :)
