My son (age 6) just started Concerta 18mg yesterday. He seemed fine all day. However this morning his stomach was upset and he threw up a few times.
BUT... I have a stomach virus which he could have picked up. He seems absolutely fine now and is running around like a maniac (I didn't give him his dose this morning because he wasn't holding anything down.)
If he was having a negative effect from the Concerta, would is have not shown up until the morning AFTER he had taken his first dose? (I'd have thought it would have been out of his system by then!) It's just tough because I don't know if he was experiencing a side effect, or the stomach flu. I'm planning to give him his regular dose tomorrow morning assuming he is still feeling fine. Thanks for any advice/thoughts.
the second guessing is one of the MOST frustrating parts of meds IMO. There is no way for you to know if he's got a virus or it's the meds. If he's better you'll just have to keep going and see how he does. If his stomach bothers him (after you know he's not sick) you can try giving it to him with food.
