I am 41 and I was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 5 or 6. Now my psychiatrist thinks I should have been diagnosed with ADD. Now I take Strattera. I am absolutely confused about when to take it. Everyday? only when I have to concentrate? I was born confused now my doc confuses me. Oh yeah...I am passive person so I think if I ask a question or bring something up that I will stupid--which quite honestly that's been pounded into my brain forever. What do I do? help!!! I am upset and depressed everyday

Stacey [/QUOTE] Stacey, Have you thought about asking your doctor when and how much you should take? That's what they are there for and I am CERTAIN they have heard it/seen it all so you will not appear stupid. You have to let the doc know how you are feeling so he/she knows if the meds are working. The doc will know if you just need to adjust dosage or try another route all together. He/she will also know if there is something else playing into the symptoms (ADHD commonly coexists with other disorders) Good luck...and you are NOT stupid. It's hard to know what's going on and how to control it. That's why you need a professional to help you sort it all out. If for some reason you don't feel comfortable with your current doc, start looking for another one. You have to trust the doc you work with. Hi Stacey, if you're feeling depressed every day, I hope you're receiving some help to address that too! Some ADHD meds can elevate anxious or depressive feelings so be sure to stay in touch with your psychiatrist on any reactions. |
