they could be talking about the testing at the "amen clinic"...i've heard that its very expensive....and think they have a website....

There are state agencies that will do an evaluation on your child and the fee is determined on a sliding scale which is based on your income. This means they will determine th fee based on what you can afford. Below is a website that is a chock full of information.

Wrightslaw Yellow Pages For Kids with Disabilities

My testing was done in 1999 or 2000 sometime around there so prices may have gone up a bit but I know the Psych visits/tests were 0-0 an hour. Mine didn't accept insurance so if you find one that does it makes a big difference. Not sure how much the blood tests were because my insurance did cover that but I don't think blood tests are all that expensive so it probably wasn't much and you only go once for that.

I was told my by my old shrink, a psychologist who put me on Wellbutrin for depression three years ago, and by a neuropsychologist, that I should take a test that tests for, among other things, ADD.

The neuropsychologist told me this tests costs ,000 and is not covered by any insurance except for Medicare and Medicaid (I have neither). I'm a little weary of shelling out two grand for a test that may or may not tell me anything.

Has anyone ever heard of this test? Anyone know the name? The neuropsychologist (who didn't know the test's name, which makes me even more suspicious) said it's about six hours long (broken into two days of three hours each) with mostly written questions and answers. To me it kinda sounds like an SAT or other regular school test.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry but I have no idea what it might be. I know my written/computer tests were about 6 hours long broken up into 3 days but nowhere near 2 grand. I was tested by my Psychologist with a questionnaire in an office visit or two. that was 10 or more years ago. I inquired about getting my 13 year old tested for ADD and it was between 00 - 00 that was 2004

sh*t!  Think of the retail therapy you could have for 00.00

I never heard of that either. I only had a co-pay and a computer test. You should call you insurance company and see if they can offer you a better solution.I heard from my friends that had their children tested privately that it cost around ,000, & it wasn't covered by insurance.  We had the school do it.
