I wonder if he is on the right dosage of medication and needs and increase? I would call the doctor and explain ASAP.
This would happen to us when we first began meds and once his dosage was increased things were great again. It took us almost 6 months to level off at the right dosage, that lasted 3 years before he was increased again.
Okay, just when you think you've got it figured out, it starts to slip away again! For the last 3 weeks things have been great. Great mornings, great days at school & great evenings. The only issues we've had have been normal 5 yr old behaviors. Now, starting on Monday, the mornings have been bad again! I can't even attribute it to the meds because he hasn't been taking them until we're ready to leave the house. His behavior the last 3 days is typical ADHD behavior, lots of motion w/his head, arms & whole body, lots of talking to himself and absolutely no listening when spoken too and every morning this week he has spilled some part of his breakfast (once had to change clothes cause he was so messy). For the last 3 weeks when we've had good mornings, there's been some doddling but nothing like I've seen in the last 3 mornings. We've also been getting more calls from school the last week or so. His teacher said that things tend to fall apart early afternoon and he seems to be hyperfocusing on certain things until there's a breakdown and then all is fine the rest of the day.
We have our next psych appt on Tues, so I plan to address these issues w/him. The afternoons at school could very well be his meds needing tweaking. But I'm baffled by the mornings, since there is no meds to blaim & hasn't been meds for 3 weeks of good behavior?? Any thoughts??
