Report Card ;{ | ADHD Information
I think I have gotten to a point where I truly dread when report cards come home. DD did not have a good report card in the first trimester, that is about when we were getting her diagnosed and on medication. After she started taking the medication she seemed to vastly improve in school, the work that was coming home was correct for the most part, 100% on spelling/math tests. Well apparently how they determine the semster's grade/progress is they have them write a narrative (keep in mind this is 1st grade), so based on the 4 line narrative that DD wrote that is what her grade (so to speak they give numbers and checks) will be for the semster. Report came home today looked exactly the same as in November, teacher said there had been no change. I'm very frustrated with the whole thing. If I myself look at the narrative she wrote for this semester compared to last, it is vastly improved, but apparently not enough for the teacher. Just looking to vent I suppose, poor DD, was so excited that report cards were coming home today, what am I suppose to tell her, that even though she made a lot of progress from November to March teacher didn't think so?
If you see she is improving on her work that she is bring home ....I think I'd would have
a talk with teacher and see why there was no improvement on report card....a
narrative shouldn't be the base for a grade ????? something isn't right
there....I see she is in first grade...... Sometimes they just give S and U"s in
first grade or say needs improvement.. ....If they think there wasn't any I would
be
checking on getting her extra help....Does she have 504 or IEP????
Everytime I get a star or good grade I give praise....so just tell your DD you
have seen a lot of improvement but she still has to work hard in school...But you
are very proud she is working so hard.
Don't let it go too long I definately would be on the teacher for some answers...
And help for dd so she can get better grades...
