Is your heart really racing or is the heartbeat just elevated above what you are normally used to? If you haven't done so, try checking your heart rate (#beats per 10 seconds X 6 = beats per minute periodically, starting with just before you take your medication, then at intervals thereafter (say every hour). Report results to your doctor. Your heart should not be racing, but elevated heartbeat is expected at the beginning. Sleepiness?! that does sound strange for a stimulant! check with your doc for his suggestions.
Just started adderal xr today. 10mg very sleeping and my heart feels like its racing. Is this normal how long till it stops

gzsmom39515.4606944444I started Adderall 20 mg and my heart was racing and I was tired. My docter wanted me to up dosage to 40mg. I about freaked. He assured me that 40mg was not alot. We discussed a step up to 30 the next day and then try to 40 over the weekend. I took 20 in the morning then 10 three hours later and all of a sudden the heart stuff went away and I suddenly focused. Unfortunetyly it only lasted two hours so I took the remaining 10mg and the focused feeling continued for another hour n half. I am going to have to figure out the dosage still but the heart thing did go away with a higher dosage which was totally counter intuitive.
