Katwal,
18 mgs is a very low dose of concerta. You may just have to tweak it up to 27 mgs. And, yes, it is common ,in the beginning to have to 'play' with the dose to find the optimum one. Good luck
well, he got in trouble in school today for the first time since starting concerta 18mg 4 weeks ago. and he was distracted afterschool when i was trying to find out what had happened today (looking right past me at a toy on the table). wow -- did it bring back memories....i can't wait for doctor to call back to discuss.
thanks for the help everyone.
my son (9yo, newly diagnosed w/ADHD comb) started concerta 18mg 4 weeks ago with really great and consistent results. but this past sat/sun, it seemed like the meds were barely effective. can this happen occassionally or is it a sign that it might be time to up the dose? would a change in effectiveness come on that quickly? or can kids just have a bad day or two even w/meds? thanks for any infoabsolutely they can have a bad day or two. They could be overtired (very likely with the clock change) or fighting an illness, all kinds of things that the meds cant' compensate for. I'd give it a week or two is even better to see if he settles down. If not then it may be time for increase. 18mg is pretty low so it wouldnt be too surprising.yes, i don't want to jump the gun, but after seeing such a remarkable change in my son it was very nervewracking to see these symptoms back. thanks.
